In grades K-8, FNESU uses a standards-based reporting method. FNESU has identified specific standards that are foundational in acquiring skills in math, reading, writing, global citizenship, science, the arts, physical education, social emotional learning, and health. We report out on progress toward these standards 3 times a year.
Standards are reported on using the language beginning, developing, proficient, and exceeding. For many standards, it may be expected to take all year to gain proficiency in a skill. Progress is reported out based on a year-end expectation. This means that a student may be beginning on a skill at the beginning of the year OR they may be beginning on a skill in March that has just been introduced.
