Flexible Pathways at the high school level is a highly flexible option offering in-person, hybrid, and virtual experiences. Students at the high school level will create a plan for completing their high school proficiencies with the help of their advisor and family input. They can access face to face courses, online courses, design independent projects, or create evidence of learning through work, hobbies, and Interests outside of schoolStudents will work with an academic advisor regularly to manage their learning and ensure they are making progress.
What To Expect:
Families will be expected to complete an orientation and sign a contract with their child’s advisor in order to confirm enrollment.
Families can expect weekly advisory meetings to last for .5 hours. We ask that families create a routine around attending advisory meetings and communicate with advisors when that cannot happen.
Students can expect to have meetings with content advisors on a weekly basis to manage independent projects.
Families should expect to check in with their students about academic progress using the personal learning plan, the Mastery Transcript, and checking email.
Families can expect to meet with their child’s advisor several times throughout the year to review progress.
Families should check email regularly and respond to communications in a timely way.
Meet with your guidance counselor to discuss if FPA is a good fit. Do you have enough interests outside of school? Can you manage your time independently? Does it fit with your future plans? Does it fit your learning style? Review the contract agreements.
Your new advisor will contact you and set up meeting times. During these meetings, the advisor will work with you and your family to identify interests, strengths, needs, and goals in order to develop a plan for your learning. What do you like to do? What do you want to learn? How do you like to learn? What will your day look like?
