Ms. Watts' Class Page
Welcome to SMP! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Kaylee Watts and I am honored to be your child’s teacher this year. I earned a Bachelor of Arts as well as my Bachelor of Education, specializing in Indigenous Education, from the University of Prince Edward Island. I have lived on PEI my entire life and just recently moved to Alberta. I have worked with a variety of students from grades 2-6, including students with exceptionalities.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Every day your child will have the opportunity to learn through a variety of activities. I teach using the workshop model, which means I will never spend more than 10 minutes teaching a lesson. After my mini-lesson, the students will be given the rest of the time to work independently or collaboratively, trying out the new skill or concept. I believe the best way to learn something is by doing it! We will also have time to play and do activities outside as well. I will be using Daily 5 and CAFE to teach literacy and will be sending home a letter in the coming weeks explaining exactly how this method works. I hope your child will enjoy all of these activities, and will be eager to share his or her experience with you at the end of the day!
I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a message for me at the school (780) 799-5720, and I will gladly give you a call back. I will also do my part by updating our class web page (https://sites.google.com/fmcsd.ab.ca/watts/home) with information and newsletters to update you on what we have been doing in class, as well as things that are up coming. For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone, send a note home, or email you. Please don't hesitate to talk to me if you have any questions or concerns.
I look forward to a year of fun and learning with your child! Together we can make this a wonderful, positive experience.
