Fort McMurray Catholic Schools, working in partnership with the Ministry of Human Services, provides support for children when parents are at work.
The Out of School Care Program is designed to provide a safe and caring environment for children in Kindergarten- Grade 6, who require before and/or after school care. Quality programming, easy access and affordable fees are the primary focus of our programs.
In Alberta, all licensed and approved child care programs must meet a minimum set of provincial standards.
Our programs are staffed by fully qualified, professionally trained personnel. The staff who work in our programs model energy, a zest for life and exploration to the children in the programs.
All of our staff currently hold, or are in the process of completing their Early Childhood Certificate, Education Assistant Certificate, Early Childhood Diploma or the equivalent thereof. During the completion of these programs, staff take training in (but not limited to) planning, documentation, emergent curriculum, health and safety, play and guiding children’s behaviours. This education allows our staff to implement strong programs which are based on the needs and interests of the children. All staff working in program hold the following certifications: Alberta Childcare Certification, CPR and First Aid, and a current Criminal Record Check. In each location there are staff certified in Food Safe and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
Our programs are committed to providing children with an opportunity to further their personal development within a responsive and deliberately implemented program. Each child care room differs in terms of the environment, routine and activities in response to the diversity of the children in the group. However, all share a common philosophy that facilitates the provision of high-quality childcare that focuses on the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development of the child.
