4.1 What types of files can I attach?

IRIS-OpenPub supports all the most common file types (PDF, Word, Excel, PPT, jpeg, jpg, tiff, bmp, mov, qt, etc.)

4.2 How do I get to know editorial policies for IRIS-OpenPub?

The addition of the full text, of the utmost importance for the completeness and the correct visibility of scientific research results of FEM, must always ensure compliance with the agreements between author and publisher.

Publishers’ policies are issued by the Sherpa/RoMEO website, a searchable database that classifies publishers according to their self-archiving policy of journal articles on institutional, subject or personal sites.

Publishers, mainly international, are classified as follows:

  • green publishers: can archive pre-print and post-print or publisher's version/PDF (with restrictions or conditions to be respected)
  • blue publishers: can archive post-print (i.e. final draft post-refereeing) or publisher's version/PDF (with restrictions or conditions to be respected)
  • yellow publishers: can archive pre-print (i.e. pre-refereeing)
  • white publishers: archiving not formally supported

In the case of publishers not available on Sherpa Romeo, it is advisable to contact the publisher, or, for Italian publishers, refer to the register edited by the University of Torino <http://www.oa.unito.it/editori/index.php?r=editori/index>.

Many publishers do not allow the editorial version to be filed, but generally allow the preprint self-archiving of the unreported author or of the draft already referred to but still lacking the publisher's layout; sometimes publishers can ask for a postponement in self-archiving (embargo up to 36 months) to safeguard economic interests.

Attention: it is recommended to read carefully not only the publisher's policy, but the one referring to each title.

Likewise, pay attention to the notes on the "author's personal copy", explicitly not allowed for use in IRIS-OpenPub.

4.3 Submission License: what is it for?

At the end of the submission of a product, you are asked to grant a license for data management in the archive. The License provides for the signing of a non-exclusive agreement between the submitter and FEM. By granting the license, we declare that the information entered in the record, as well as those contained in the associated document, do not violate the rights of anyone and any kind of right, especially those related to privacy and copyright.

In any case, by accepting the license, the submitter undertakes to be responsible for possible violations. Furthermore, the license allows FEM to manage the records (description and attachments) for preservation purposes only, through an agreement to respect the rights within the archive.

Subscribing this license is obviously mandatory; if in doubt, you can click on "I do not grant the license": the product remains in a temporary state in your personal space (Personal view> My submissions) and doesn’t follow the validation steps.

The product can be resumed at any time (Actions box> Complete submission)
