Welcome to My Class

Dear Students and Family,

Welcome to Pepperell Middle School. It is an adventure that we will take together. August is here, and it is an exciting month! For teachers and students, it’s a month of change and new beginnings—new surroundings, new friends, new experiences, new skills, and new challenges.

I am Mrs. Sandey Mathis. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Covenant College in Organization Management and Masters of Education from Walden University.

I am happily married to Benjie Mathis who is the retired youth pastor at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church (Student Fusion). We have three children: April, Alice, and Eddie. We also have five wonderful grandchildren: Hunter, Mary Grace, Clara, Stella and Sam.

I currently teach 6th grade Language Arts. I am anticipating a wonderful year of learning and growth. I believe students work best when they are placed in a comfortable, supporting learning environment. I will encourage you to take risks without the fear of failure; placing much emphasis on mistakes happen and that is okay. My positive teaching approach will help you to develop strong organizational skills and orderly workspaces. I will encourage YOU to become more responsible by informing you of guidelines regarding discipline, homework, and general expectations, all of which will remain consistent throughout the year. Parents, please refer to your child’s agenda or homework folder for such information like homework assignments, current progress reports, etc. This will be your part in making sure such expectations are met.

During the first few days of school, we are going to laugh and get to know each other by participating in a few “ice breaker” activities. I am interested in finding out who you are!

I am very excited that you are with me this year. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone at Pepperell Middle School 706-236-1849 or via email at smathis@floydboe.net. I would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sandey Mathis
