The Model Boys Soccer team competed in their inaugural season in 2002. On February 19, 2002 the boys competed in their first ever game against Calhoun where they unfortunately lost 8-3. The boys won the first ever game in the program beating Adairsville 4-0 on March 7, 2002. The team competed for some very successful seasons in the beginning of the program winning region from 2003-2005. Model Boys Soccer program has been to the playoffs in 12 of their 23 seasons. Out of the seven playoff appearances, Model has hosted nine of those games, most recently in 2024. Model recently has gone to the playoffs five years in a row (2019-2024). In 2017 the boys made history by winning their first ever playoff game on May 3, 2017 and competing in the second round of the GHSA Playoffs. In 2018 the boys continued to make history by making the elite eight for the first time in school history followed by their first ever final four appearance. The record for the 2018 season was 17-3, which is the most wins and best win percentage in program history until 2024. In 2020, the boys team was off to a 4-1 region start and were the #2 seed, but COVID19 cut the season short. In 2021, Model faced Elite Scholars Academy at home for the first round of the playoffs and moved to the 2nd round where they lost to Bremen. The 2022 season saw the Blue Devils fall in the first round to Callaway 2-1. 2023 was a special year for the Blue Devils as they won their 5th region championship in school history and advanced to the Elite Eight for the second time in school history. In 2024, the Blue Devils had the best season to date. They amassed 21 wins, a 6th region championship, Coach Mendence's 100th win, and advanced to the state finals for the first time in school history and earning the 2024 State Runner Up Trophy losing to Toombs County 2-0. The season of 2024 saw the Blue Devils go undefeated in region and win their 7th region championship and advance and host their third final four game but lost to Armuchee (3-1) who won the state championship. The boys continue to pursue their goal of WINNING a state championship.
