Helpful tips

  1. Students are to ALWAYS be in groups of three or more. Students are never allowed to be by themselves or with only one other person.

    • Any student who doesn't follow this rule will be required to remain with a chaperone for the remainder for the event.

  2. You should be supportive of each and every band. Show appreciation for their hard work by your applause at the beginning and end of EVERY band’s performance.

  3. Be considerate during each band’s performance by:

    • Refraining from talking during the performance

    • Do not get up, move around, or leave during a performance (unless it’s an emergency)

    • Keep your comments positive and complimentary. Listen more than you talk.

      • As Judge Judy says, "God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason... listen twice as often as you speak."

  4. Keep in mind that every band is different and has different circumstances, but every band deserves your respect. As students, band boosters, and/or spectators, we have a responsibility to recognize the efforts of the students on the field by being positive and supportive.

Below is a list put together by Beth Taft with information you may find useful for our competitions coming up. Please keep in mind, this is an all day event. Please take into consideration that, after our band performs, our students will be sitting in the stadium watching other bands as they perform their shows for the remainder of the day/evening:

    • Money for food: I would suggest $20 minimum

    • Back up power bank to charge phones.

    • A change of comfortable clothes, a rain poncho or small umbrella, sun screen, and bug spray are all items that should be considered.

        • Stay informed about the weather leading up to the day of the event! It may get warm during the day and then cold at night! Please be prepared for the entire day!

        • As you know, the weather in Georgia frequently and drastically changes this time of year. It is suggested that you invest in some long underwear that's tight fitting for your student to wear underneath their uniform.

    • Students may bring a SMALL bag with a SMALL blanket and/or a pillow to sit on. Students should use common sense when packing. Bags that are too large will be forbidden in the stands and will be left on our bus which does not lock.

        • THE PERFECT SIZE BAG is one of the drawstring over-the-shoulder bags... bags much larger than this will not be permitted. CLICK HERE to be taken to Amazon to purchase an inexpensive version of the drawstring bag.

    • Snacks: A FEW small snacks is acceptable. PLEASE remember, bands host competitions as a fundraiser and anticipate selling concessions to attendees. Bringing large amounts of snacks is not acceptable and will not be permitted.

    • Homework and/or AR books: Students who are behind in school work or students who desire to get ahead can use this time to work on assignments as long as they do not take up a large amount of room in the stands and as long as they do not become a distraction for anything happening on the field.
