Senior Zachary Graham has been part of Flour Bluff ISD since he was 5 years old, making Hornet Country his community for his entire education.
One of Graham’s favorite parts of school has been playing tennis. He started in junior high and has worked to improve himself in the years since.
“I really enjoy playing tennis here,” Graham said. “It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve played since junior high, and it’s been a big part of my school career.”
The sport has become an important part of his school life.
For Graham, the most unique part of Flour Bluff is the community itself.
“Everyone kind of gets along,” Graham said. “The sense of community makes it so special.”
Along with tennis, Graham is involved in the National Honor Society and the Athletic Leadership Council. He also participates in activities outside of school.
Tennis has taught Graham a lot about himself. It’s helped him become more patient, more in control and better at managing his time. Balancing sports, school and other activities has helped him grow as a person and become more responsible.
“Playing tennis has definitely improved my mindset in every area of my life,” Graham said. “I’m much more patient, much more controlled in what I do.”
As he prepares for graduation, Graham reflects on the lessons he has learned both on and off the court — and credits his time at Flour Bluff for shaping who he is today.
