Senior Presley Gage has been a Hornet since her freshman year, and she says what she loves most is the school’s “tight family feel.”
“Everyone is involved, and everyone wants something good for the school. You can really feel people rooting for you here,” Gage said.
Gage is active across campus life, serving as Cheer Captain, Business Professionals of America (BPA) Vice President, Anchor for Life Publicity Officer, and National Honor Society Officer, while also being part of Triumph Over Kids Cancer (TOKC), Hornet Legacy, and the Leadership Team, but one of her proudest moments was becoming captain.
“I’ve cheered basically my whole life, so earning that spot felt like all my hard work paid off,” Gage said.
She credits her sponsors and coaches for helping her grow personally as well as professionally.
“Coach Garza has been like a second mom to me,” Gage said. “Ms. Johnson from BPA is one of the best people you’ll ever meet, and Ms. Stewart is the person who reminds me to keep going when things get hard.”
Outside of school, she enjoys trips to the beach, relaxing with friends, shopping, and playing golf.
“It’s calm, slow, and something that helps me unwind,” Gage said.
While still deciding what college she plans to attend after graduation, Gage has yet to determine whether to continue cheering. She hopes to become a nurse and eventually open her own med spa so she can help people feel confident in themselves. She also hopes the bond funding improvements she helped support will be part of her legacy at Flour Bluff.
Her advice for younger students is simple:
“Stay strong, school matters, and don’t wait to start trying, even freshman and sophomore year count more than you think.”
She describes her Flour Bluff journey as exciting, fun, and stressful, a mix of leadership, growth, unforgettable Friday night football games, and moments that taught her how to push through with positivity and purpose.
