With the start of the new 2025-2026 school year, a new class of seniors have come up and are being prepared for college and the working world. One senior in particular, Marina Rosales, has been at Flour Bluff for five years and is walking the stage come May.
“My high school years have been fun, complicated, sad, and happy,” Rosales said. “It has been fun because I’ve been a part of Yearbook for such a long time and Mrs. Brandewie’s classroom has always been a safe space for me when my days weren’t good.”
Marina has been promoted to a senior editor position for yearbook, and loves taking pictures and being a part of student life, including making friends.
“Making friends has been my greatest accomplishment, I’m a super shy person and get really scared when talking to people,” Rosales said. “I have made acquaintances and friends and have expanded my social circle, I’m very happy people like Dalena, Alyna, Jesslyn, Avery, and Willoe, are going into senior year with me.”
High school is typically described as ‘the best time of our lives’ while that may be true for some, others have a hard time with high school, and with some of the drama that comes with it.
“Junior year was the hardest part of my high school experience,” Rosales said. “It sucked because I didn’t have my old friends and I missed them. My classes were also really hard.”
Marina has big plans for after high school, plans that her Yearbook teacher opened the door to.
“I am going into communications in college. Yearbook really opened my eyes to that,” Rosales said. “I want to help other schools develop their yearbooks and hear their ideas and help their yearbooks build up. I’m still trying to figure out what I 100% want to do.”
Senior year comes with lots of new experiences and events, most of which students wait all four years for.
“I’m looking forward to all of the events I’m getting to do with my friends. Sleepovers with Willoe and Alyna are very exciting,” Rosales said. “I’m excited about prom and getting dressed up. Most of all I’m excited for this year's yearbook to be submitted, because it’s my last one and I want it to be one I can brag about to everyone.”
Marina Rosales’s high school years have been trial and error, but she's excited for what's behind all the closed doors that are now open.
