Senior Ian Palm has been a familiar face at Flour Bluff ISD since sixth grade, building friendships, memories, and a long list of accomplishments both in and out of the classroom.
“My favorite part about attending Flour Bluff High School definitely has to be the friends I’ve made and just getting to know so many people,” Palm said.
Palm stays active on campus through a mix of academics, clubs, and athletics. He’s a member of National Honor Society, Yearbook, Spanish Honor Society, and BPA. Athletically, he runs cross country and is preparing to play football this year.
“I’ve been in clubs and sports since at least eighth grade, but I’ve been in athletics since before that,” he said.
When it comes to academics, Palm gravitates toward subjects that let him connect with people and be creative.
“Honestly, my favorite subject right now is Yearbook—the people in there are fun,” Palm said.
Outside of school, Palm enjoys spending time outdoors and relaxing with friends.
“I like watching movies, surfing sometimes, fishing, and just hanging out,” he said.
Palm’s advice to underclassmen reflects his own high school experience: “Take every opportunity that’s given to you,” he said. “Even though it may be a lot, it’s still fun to do, and it will give you a lot of memories and experience.”
Looking back, one year stands out most.
“If I could relive any moment from high school, it would probably be the second half of freshman year,” he said. “I got to know so many people and experience so much I didn’t know before. I liked the people I met that year, and I continue to be friends with them.”
A little-known fact about Palm? “I’m Mexican and I speak Spanish,” he said.
When asked to sum up his high school years in just three words, Palm chose: “Fun, tiring, and exciting.”
Looking ahead, his goals are ambitious and clear.
“In the next five to ten years, I hope to go to UT, then graduate and go to law school,” Palm said. “Hopefully I can become a lawyer and help a lot of people.”
