Senior Connor Cox has spent most of his time walking the halls of Flour Bluff schools, a place he considers more than just a school district.
Growing up in the community since the first grade, he has watched the school evolve and grow.
“I like how diverse it is with different cultures and how people at Flour Bluff are. I feel like it's truly the best school in Corpus,” Cox said. “Our sports are probably the best in Corpus and overall the people are still the best people I've ever met.”
Sports have played a major part of his Connor’s experience as a hornet, specifically especially soccer. His dedication to soccer has led to many memorable moments that won't be forgotten.
“I've been playing soccer since I was about eight years old,” Cox said. “Just recently I've been talking to some pretty high up there colleges and that's a big accomplishment for me.”
Cox takes pride in the role he plays on the field. With years of experience behind him and a strong bond with his teammates, Cox is aiming high for his final season.
“I play center-back.”Cox said. “Well, I hope to win state this year for soccer. We are looking pretty good.”
The sport however, has shaped him in more ways than just a competition. He believes it has helped build his character and strengthen his leadership skills.
“I feel like it's helped with my overall integrity as a person,” Cox said. “Three words I would use to describe my high school years are perseverance, indignation, and fun.”
Connor, being known as someone who cares deeply about others and focuses on making a difference, decides to pursue a career where helping others is crucial.
“After graduation I plan to attend the [University of Texas] Dallas or [University of Texas] Tyler, and get my criminal justice degree and go into Customs and Border Protection,” Cox said. “ I chose that path because it really interested me. Border Patrol Tactical Unit or BORTAC is a program I'm going into, and it just seemed special to me.”
As Cox prepares to take the next steps into adulthood, there is no doubt he will carry the lessons of Flour Bluff with him- and leave behind a legacy shaped by determination, class, pride, and heart.
