Cameron Johnson has been attending Flour Bluff High School since his freshman year. Throughout his high school career, Johnson has thrived in sports, developing a passion for both football and soccer that has made him who he is today.
“They've done a really good job shaping me into who I am and teaching me a lot about working with others,” Johnson said.
As member of the varsity football and soccer teams, Johnson has played pivotal roles in his teams’ successes. On the football field, his dual position as a linebacker and running back has taught him discipline and teamwork. He was recently selected as team captain, a role that reflects his leadership and dedication.
“This past weekend at the Alamodome, we were down 28-27 with three minutes left,” Johnson said, recounting one of his favorite memories. “They were inside our 40-yard line, and I got an interception and ran it all the way down the field. We ended up winning the game on a last-second touchdown.”
In soccer, Johnson has spent years honing his skills as a defensive back, playing at the varsity level for three years. His commitment to practice and preparation has been crucial to his performance on the field.
“Soccer takes a lot of practice and dedication, but the time you put in with your team makes it all worth it,” Johnson said.
When he's not busy with sports, Johnson enjoys fishing, a hobby he picked up as a child. He fondly recalls his father introducing him to fishing when he was just seven years old.
“My dad used to fish a lot, and he got me into it. Ever since my first trip with him, I’ve loved it,” Johnson said.
These days, Johnson mostly fishes with friends, including Luke, Marcus, Jeremy, and Tyler. Whether it’s catching redfish or trout, the time spent on the water offers him a chance to relax and bond with others.
“When we’re not fishing, we’re usually just hanging out, playing video games or watching sports,” Johnson said.
Looking ahead, Johnson has decided to join the Air Force after graduation, with plans to focus on becoming an aircraft mechanic. He sees this as a path to achieving his goals while gaining valuable experience.
“I want to do something special in life, something different,” Johnson said. “I want to accomplish a lot, and I feel like this will help me get there.”
As a senior, Johnson hopes to leave behind a legacy of leadership and teamwork. His dream is to take the Flour Bluff football team to the state championship.
Through his dedication to sports, his passion for fishing, and his ambitious plans for the future, Cameron Johnson exemplifies the spirit of determination and camaraderie that defines Flour Bluff High School.
