Analeya Lester, a senior at Flour Bluff High School, has started her final year strong. She participates in Varsity Treble Choir, an extracurricular activity at the school. Join us as we take a closer look at Lester’s journey, discovering how music has influenced her life and what exciting things lie ahead for this talented student!
As a devoted member of the choir program since 6th grade, she’s stepped up to take on a leadership position as the Vice President for the high school program for the 2024-2025 school year. Lester helps run the Girls Varsity Treble Choir and the Junior Varsity Choir. Her journey from a passionate young singer to a leader in the choir has been marked by dedication and hard work.
“As Vice President, I take on various responsibilities—from organizing rehearsals to mentoring younger members, ensuring that each choir performance is a success,” she said.
The credit for her growth is given to her choir high school instructor, Mr. Fernandez. He has played a significant role in her development by providing her with the right tools to not only improve her singing skills but also enhance her abilities as a leader. Through his guidance, she has learned the importance of dedication and practice, which has helped her reach new heights in her musical journey.
"Mr. Fe has impacted my experience by showing me how to improve my singing and how practice makes progress, not perfect,” Lester said, “He has given me advice that I will forever be grateful for, and I will forever thank him for the music.”
Another teacher she looks up to is Mrs. Dow, the Intermediate choir director. Mrs. Dow was the first to recognize her potential and passion for music. To encourage her and strengthen her love for singing, she provided Lester with numerous opportunities to showcase her talent. Mrs. Dow’s beginning support laid the foundation for her continued successes in the choirs.
"Mrs. Dow has helped me more than ever. She has been with me through my music journey since 6th grade,” she said, “[Her and Mr. Fernandez] have both taught me so much throughout my life and I thank them so much.”
In addition, working in a leadership role can be a daunting task for some, but for Lester that isn’t the case. She has taken this opportunity to rise to the occasion.
“It is awesome working with other students here because everyone is so helpful and sweet,” she said. “They are always helping others, and I have never been surrounded by more amazing people.”
Choosing which high school memories to carry forward is bittersweet, as she faces the exciting yet unknown possibilities of a new chapter. Lester cherishes the moments spent rehearsing and performing with her classmates, the thrill of competitions, and the sense of accomplishment that came with each performance.
“Being in choir and doing TMEA and UIL competitions, I will definitely miss it. Just being around people who have the same passion in singing as I do, makes this experience much more valuable,” Lester said.
As a senior, she is determined to leave behind a singing legacy. She dreams of making a name for herself in the music industry and hopes that her journey will inspire future students at Flour Bluff High School.
"Whenever I become a famous singer, I want people to know that I went to this school and how proud I am to be a Hornet," she said.
Her future is envisioned where her success is not only evidence to her hard work and talent but also a reflection of the supportive environment and excellent education she received at Flour Bluff. She hopes that her story will motivate other students to pursue their passions with the same dedication and pride.
