Class Overview
I am teaching 7th grade ELAR, which includes advanced courses. You can find me in room 613, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and a novel in the other. This August, we will begin the school year with Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Throughout the first semester, we will explore poetry, informational text passages, short stories, and the play version of "A Christmas Carol". Along the way, we will fine-tune your writing skills and keep an incredible journal of our adventure this year.
You're always encouraged to relax and read in my room. Bring your own books, explore my personal library that I've curated, or check some out at our school library. My goal for you is simple and easy. Please bring an open mind when it comes to reading and writing. I'll bring the fun!
About Me
The mission of the Hornet community is to foster and empower students to become confident, productive members of society who pursue excellence with integrity. As I begin my tenth year of teaching, I'm eager to embrace FBISD's goals within my own classroom. This will be my second year with the district, after previous experience in South Texas and Spain.
I have educator experience in elementary grade levels, bilingual classrooms (fluent in Spanish), and more. In May 2022, I graduated with my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UT-Arlington.
FBISD has been very welcoming so far, and I look forward to making many memories here in this exceptional community. My 7th grade RLA team is truly a special one, and we are ready to encourage our students.
