Welcome back! The 2019-2020 school year is sure to bring many successes for our students at LMS. We look forward to welcoming you for another exciting school year on Thursday, August 8th!

Please review the information below for pertinent registration information. The LMS Office will be open beginning on Monday, July 29th. For your convenience, you may also mail payments to the LMS office. New Student Registration will begin on July 30th. Hard copies of all information below are also available in the office.


Alma will be replaced by a new Student Information System at the start of the school year. The new program will be Synergy. More information will be provided as we complete the transition this summer.


Students are required to complete an annual physical evaluation prior to athletic participation at LMS. This form, along with many others, must be completed before participation begins.

Football practice will start on Tuesday July 30 from 6:00-7:30 on the MS Football Field. The first game (Jamboree at Knightstown) will be Thursday Aug. 15.

Volleyball practice will start on Monday Aug. 5 from 3:15-5:00. The first game will be Thursday, Aug 29 at Wapahani.

Tennis practice will begin after the start of school. Information will be provided at that time. The first match will be Thursday, Aug 22 at home vs. Greenfield.

Cross Country practice will begin after the start of school. Information will be provided at that time. The first meet will be Tuesday, September 3 at Frankton.

Chromebook Information

At LMS, you may purchase or bring your own Chromebook. Chromebook distribution will be on Thursday, August 1, 12:00-8:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Please see the links below for information on purchase options. You must pay for your Chromebook when you pick it up on August 1st.

Food Service Information

Breakfast will be served each morning at LMS. The cost for breakfast is $1.60. The cost for lunch is $2.60. Free and reduced lunches are also available for those who qualify. An applications for free and reduced meals is linked below.

Open House

The school will be open 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1. Students can locate their classes, lockers, and familiarize themselves with Lapel Middle School during this time. Mr. Kemerly will host a Q&A at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Gym for any student and/or parent who would like to attend. We will also be hosting a Meet the Teacher night shortly after the school year begins.

Summer Reading Information

As a reminder, below is the required summer reading selection for each grade level. Students are to read the required novel based on the grade level that they will be enrolled in during the 2019-2020 school year.

Grade 6 - Restart by Gordon Korman

Grade 7 - Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde

Grade 8 - A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle

Student Registration

Registration is for new students only. The office will be open for New Student Registration July 30-August 1. Please call the main office at (765) 534-3136 to set up an appointment for one of those dates.

Textbook Rental Fees

Textbook fees will be distributed in August. Please make checks payable at that time to Lapel Middle School and mail to the LMS office at 2883 S SR 13, Lapel, IN 46051.
