Accessing Democracy
Accessing Democracy is a conference organized by the FLAME Center for Legislative Education & Research.
The Conference aims to bring together industry professionals and organizations working in towards strengthening and supporting our countries democratic institutions.
With this, we hope to provide a stage to organizations working at a grassroots level and showcase their amazing work. Similarly we hope to facilitate a stage for people to interact with these organizations and the panelists and become more informed and engaged citizens in our country.
The underlying bedrock of this conference is the importance of open & equitable access to information in a thriving democracy which has inspired our name, 'Accessing Democracy'.
Key Focus Areas of the Conference
Open Access
The bedrock of a thriving democracy is the open access to information. Through 'Accessing Democracy', we hope to center the discussion around the importance to open and easy to access information.
Through engaging in these discussions we hope to not only make information easily available but also equip the citizens of the nation with the knowhow and means to better understand it.
Through this we hope to create a better informed and active populous to maintain accountability and transparence to ensure a thriving democracy in India.
Focus on India
With Colleges and school placing a heavy focus on MUNs and Moot Courts, the Indian legislative process has taken a backseat in Academia.
'Accessing Democracy' places heavy emphasis on the need for a more proactive approach to understanding and engaging in the Indian political processes. Towards this, we have invited multiple organizations which have extensive experience working at a grassroot level with various strata of agencies, organizations and society.
We hope through this to in-part bridge the gap within these organizations with extensive experience in this field and the budding academics of tomorrow by providing a showcase for these organisations.
