Track & Field at Sunny Hills HS runs from January - May with two open tryouts per year (in August and December). Returning athletes in good standing can request to join the year-around class with limited spots available each school year.

Athletic Clearance

In order to participate in tryouts, practices, or meets the student must be athletically cleared by Sunny Hills High School. Clearance steps can be found here: https://www.fjuhsd.org/domain/1383

Tryouts

Tryouts for Lancer Track & Field take place at various times of the year (schedule listed below). All tryouts will consist of 5 events that are measured and ranked. Participation in 3 or more events is highly recommended. The top 3 times/marks in each event will automatically make the team. Additional spots will be determined based on team need and the time of year. 

Events:  40-yd dash / 800m run / 400m run / Broad Jump / Backwards Overhead Med Ball Throw

Dates & Times:

• Fall Tryouts -- August 6, 2024 @ SH Track; 9:00 - 11:00 am 

• Winter Tryouts -- December 4th & 5th, 2024 @ SH Track; 3:45 - 5:00 pm (choose one day to attend; same activities both days)
