Professional Genealogical & Historical Research
Military ancestry • Archive research • Hampshire families
Fitzgerald Genealogy & Archives offers archive-led family and military history research from 1660 to the present day. Drawing on extensive primary sources - including muster rolls, service records, regimental archives, and unit war diaries - I reconstruct the lives and service of past individuals within their wider historical context.
I am a professional genealogist and researcher, an Associate of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives, and hold Master’s degrees in both Military Studies and Local & Family History. Having served in the British Army, I also volunteer as a researcher at the Royal Artillery Archives. I am a member of the Army Historical Research Society, the Royal Artillery Historical Society, and the Hampshire Genealogical Society.
My work focuses particularly on military ancestry and Hampshire families, bringing to light the stories of the ‘extraordinary ordinary’ whose lives deserve to be remembered. I also conduct research to support academic work, historical researchers, and writers.

"Thank you very much indeed for your research package. Timely, accurate and clearly expressed, the analysis that accompanied it was insightful. Invaluable.'
John W, Manchester
"Wow!! I am blown away and so grateful to you, and to Nick for all his fantastic hard work as well. Please pass on my most sincere thanks to him for all that he has done. I can see that he has gone seriously ‘into the weeds’ of everything and left no stone unturned, which has resulted in putting so much ‘meat on the bones’ of the skeleton I had, and means that I can understand it all so much more."
Ian L, Norfolk
''Thank you ever so much for your detailed reply. I really do appreciate your efforts and the time you have invested in this. To me it is priceless, and it gives me so many avenues to explore that weren't available before your research."

The standard of research was exceptional, meticulous and never overpromising. Step by step, Nick unearthed my father's record, which was complicated by an incorrect date of birth. The records he painstakingly put together allowed me to see my father with new eyes, to see what he endured and how he returned from war a changed man.
I would recommend Nick Fitzgerald wholeheartedly as a man committed to providing as full a record as is possible.
