What are the effects of CO2 emissions on mortality rate?

Peter Yeboah

Abstract:
Climate change is a substantial issue we face in our world today, and one that will continue to grow without the proper actions taken to minimize its effects. Currently, climate change is costing the lives of millions each year. This brings the question of what countries are being impacted the most by climate change as a result of the carbon emissions they produce. The aim of this research is to see if there is a correlation between carbon emissions and mortality rates. Specifically, if a country's carbon emissions are high, could it constitute a higher mortality rate. In order to do this, I have compiled CO2 emissions and mortality rates of 30 countries for the year 2018. 2018 is the latest year for which the CO2 emissions at the country level is available. I will also control for other variables that can impact the mortality rate such as: population growth, economic growth, and HDI (Human Development Index).
