With Covid-19 closing down schools and local events, Village United wants you to know that you are top priority.
If you have made the decision to stay home and are looking for ways to limit contact with others,
United Way/Villages United, will have some food boxes available for seniors living independently in their own homes.
Boxes will be based on the donations of nonperishable items that they get through their Good360 program.
Keep in mind, they have no control over donations and quantities, and it will change weekly.
United Way/Villages United will be going by the school district schedule and will continue to help in this wayuntil the schools are back in session or as long as they are able.
Local Food Banks and they are still distributing food to local pantries.
Most pantries are remaining open but are modifying service to accommodate social distancing.
Pantries are asking if consumers are sick, please call and make arrangements for someone else to pick up the box.
Albertson’s/Safeway stores will be reserving the hours of 7 am – 9 am every Tuesday and Thursday for vulnerable populations. This began 3/17/20.
Target Stores will begin reserving the first hour of shopping every Wednesday for vulnerable populations. This began 3/18/20.
**Vulnerable populations include seniors, those with compromised immune systems, and pregnant women.
Most of the schools and/or school districts in the area are offering some form of sack lunch delivery to their students 18 and under. Check with local school districts on their distribution plan.
While congregate meal sites are offering “drive-up” options rather than in person dining, the home delivered meal program is still delivering at this time
Grocery stores are still receiving daily shipments of toilet paper and have started putting limits on purchases to try and keep supplies for those in need.
Cherriots has lifted all fares as of 3/17/20 and is asking for all riders to board/enter through the back door unless a need ramp to board.
Some bus routes have had minor changes and the customer service hours have been reduced and the lobby is closed.
**Vulnerable populations still have access to priority seating.
The Oregon DOJ has set up a hotline for reporting price gouging.
