ISTE Seal of Alignment

Are you interested in learning more about digital learning and 1:1 environments in preparation for Fife Forward AND earn either 25 or 50 FREE clock hours for each course you complete?

The Fife School District has partnered with Capella University to offer 22 online, self-paced professional learning courses specifically designed to prepared you for 21st Century teaching and learning. You may also opt to earn college credit for these courses at the reasonable rate of $50 per credit (each course is either 1 or 2 credits). Participants have 60 days to complete a course and can request up to a 30 day extension, as needed, for a total of 90 days to complete each course.

Please note: In order to register for clock hours, you need to complete the following steps, in order:

  1. Login to our Professional Learning Portal and register for one of the following two courses:
    • Course 167: Capella University | Online Digital Learning | September 2018 - May 2019. Important! These clock hours CAN apply towards June 2018 certificate renewals! The course will show as 3 clock hours. This is just a placeholder. That number will be adjusted to reflect either the 25 or 50 clock hours earned after you finished the course(s).
  2. Visit the Fife/Capella Partner Page to browse available courses and register for the course you would like to complete. You will need to sign in to Capella's Sophia platform to access the courses, and you can sign in with your Google credentials. Simply allow any of the permissions it requests.
  3. Once you have finished the course, print the Certificate of Completion via Capella and send to Elaine Smith at the district office. This will be the documentation used to verify completion of the clock hours. Elaine will then adjust your clock hours from the placeholder of 3 to the actual clock hours you earned.
  4. You only need to register for clock hours once. If you take more than one Capella course, start at Step 2 and send your certificate of completion for EACH course to Elaine after you finish the course. She’ll adjust your total after each course.

If you are not interested in clock hours you can simply login to the Fife/Capella Partner Page, register, and take whatever courses are of interest to you.
