In Person Learning
In person learning will take place in the classroom, 5 days a week. We will adhere to all State of Michigan Phase requirements. For more information about what that looks like in your child's building, please visit their individual page.
Remote learning will take place with Fennville staff members on a daily basis. Times will be flexible based on grade level. This is a shorter term plan for parents who aren't quite ready to send their students back; whether it be because of Phase requirements, an immunocompromised household member, or any other as-needed reason. All students will learn remotely if FPS is put into Phase 3.
The planning process in Fennville has been guided by these principles:
Students must be the focus of our work. We must repeatedly ask ourselves, “What is best for our students?”
The District has a duty to establish policies, rules, and procedures to mitigate risk and keep our students and our staff safe.
The best instructional environment includes the face-to-face interaction between a teacher and his or her students.
From the American Academy of Pediatrics: “the AAP strongly advocates that all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school.” https://services.aap.org/en/pages/2019-novel-coronavirus-covid-19-infections/clinical-guidance/covid-19-planning-considerations-return-to-in-person-education-in-schools/
In this time of uncertainty, the District needs to offer flexible options for families so that all students can move forward in their education with their local school district.
For those who choose remote or online learning opportunities, support from the local school is an important component of the student’s success.
