For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) seeks to create a world where science and technology are celebrated and young people dream of becoming our future's science and technology leaders. To accomplish this, various age-appropriate mentor-led programs are offered that strengthen and build STEM skills, inspire innovation and emphasize curiosity, self-efficacy, and life skills such as team work and communication.
FIRST is more than Robots! FIRST (especially as participation continues) has been linked by numerous studies to show past participants are more likely to pursue higher education, seek careers in STEM-related fields, become leaders and innovators within their chosen fields, and have enhanced 21 st century work-life skills.
