Smash Bros Ultimate Leaks September 2018

By Alejandro R.

Published September 25, 2018

We will be talking about Super Smash Bros Ultimate coming out exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on December 7. The community for these games are huge and the mystery of what new characters are coming, what is the new mode, and anything else that the fanbase is “patiently” waiting for.

Some people like to leak information, some are real, but most aren’t. Here are some very well made leaks that might be true and some leaks that are well let’s say they put “effort” into them.

1. Umm, it looks like someone drew this on paint, a 3 year old to be more specific. It’s said that Geno a very demanded character is going to be in Smash. Well first of all we have no idea where this person got this information and second of all this is just a drawing!

2. This one is that Funimation a streaming service, has leaked Goku. Goku is also very demanded as a playable fighter, but why does Funimation have this intel? Funimation, a random streaming service leaked Goku? Also they down do character introductions like that anymore.

3. The last one were doing and probably the most popular one. This leak shows us that someone who is probably Agnes Oblige from from Bravely Default, The Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven, Isaac from Golden Sun, Ken from Street Fighter, Isabelle from Animal Crossing, Shadow from Sonic The Hedgehog, Skull Kid from Legend of Zelda, and a mystery character. All of these are very popular characters that are very demanded.

First of all this person took a crude looking photo, like most leakers, for a random reason, weird if he wanted us to think it was real he would’ve taken a better photo from the game. Second of all I could’ve searched these photos up on my computer and put these because it is such an easy thing to do. Find popular characters find random photos of them take a photo with your IPod Touch and transfer them to MS Paint.

Game of the Month: by Lynden S.

Fortnite (12 years and up)

Now we all know this game, but Epic Games has showed us a new LTM (Limited Time Mode). The mode is The Getaway where players will try to get the Jewel Llama and take to one of the four Getaway Vans. With this new gamemode came new skins. These skins are slick with white suits and interchangeable masks that look like traditional playing cards.

The four masks are hearts, clubs, diamond, and ace. The other one is a girl with a red and white dress wearing high heels and a white mask that looks like an ace card.

They also come with the a glider which is a broken safe vault, the harvesting tool is a crowbar, and there is also a contrail, which is a trail that comes out of you when you're falling off the battle bus, it is litteral cash that comes out.

Overall, this is a good game that keeps on adding new stuff. This game is recommended if you like cartoon like games that can be played with a lot of your friends.

Hurricane Florence: by Abinaya S.

September 13, 2018

Late at night on September 12, hurricane Florence was downgraded to a category 2. However, conditions are still dangerous as the hurricane edges closer to landfall. As of 8 AM ET on September 13, the NHC (National Hurricane Center) released a statement reporting that Florence was centered about 170 miles southeast of Wilmington, NC, and 220 miles east of Myrtle Beach, SC.

The NHC says that Florence is a “large hurricane”, with its winds extending outward up to 80 miles from the center, and the tropical-storm winds extend out to 195 miles.

According to meteorologists, Florence is expected to finally make landfall over the coast of southern NC and eastern SC later today, on September 13. However, the forecast track has shifted relatively south and west, putting Georgia in its possible path of destruction.

Approximately 5.25 million residents are under hurricane watch or warnings, around the southeast coast of the United States.

Residents in Georgia will likely receive only heavy rains and tropical storm winds, but we must be prepared for Florence to shift its peril on us.

Can laughter really help you live longer?

By Abinaya S.

Published September 25, 2018

One question that has been brought up by many conversations is if laughing truly has the ability to extend your life. It can, in fact, cause you to live longer. Anger, sadness, frustration, and other negative emotions such as these can increase your levels of stress, which often leads to other, more serious physical conditions.

Laughing and forgetting about the stress for a moment can scientifically help you live longer by lowering your stress levels, and thus lower the risk of a dangerous condition. Many studies have been performed to determine the answer to this question, and all have relatively similar results.

So, remember to live, love, and most importantly, LAUGH.

HEROES

By: Morgan Z.

Published September 25, 2018

They are all around us. They may look like any other person. The elderly, teachers, parents, siblings, friends. They all do something to us. They influence our lives. The elders, they tell us their life stories, and give us wisdom of the ages.

Parents, they teach us to love. Teachers, they teach us about past mistakes in the world then how to right the wrongs. Siblings, they save us from mistakes they made. Friends, by giving us a shoulder to cry on and the support we need to survive a day.

Everybody in this world has a purpose. While it may be to teach, to cook, to paint, to love, to dance, to drive, to write, to facilitate they have a purpose. They matter. The people in this world, they save you in any way they can. It may be in a small way. A smile from a stranger, a wave from a friend. Anything someone does to make you happy makes them a hero. Because they saved your day. Sometimes they just save your day. Sometimes they save your week. Sometimes the month.

A simple hello can make someone happy, ecstatic even. Everybody in this world is a hero. If they aren’t a hero to you, they may be to someone else. They may seem like the weirdest person you’ve ever seen. But to someone else, they may be the sun to someone’s rainy day. They are the true heroes in this world, and while they may not wear capes, spandex and be famous, they deserve recognition.

The Wilhelm Gustloff

By Abinaya S.

Published September 25, 2018

The infamous incidents of both the Titanic and the Lusitania left a mark on history that can never be repaired. But with their death tolls of 1,500 and 1,200, these horrible maritime incidents are nothing compared to the tragedy of the Wilhelm Gustloff, a ship carrying about 10,000 passengers from Germany during WW2. Somewhere in the Baltic Sea, Soviet sub S-13 struck it down, leaving the passengers of a ship that was only meant for 1,500 people to fend for themselves in the icy waters.

With far too few lifeboats, an estimated 9,343 people didn’t survive. Most were war refugees, fleeing the horrors in Germany, and half were just young children. But even though the death toll of this tragedy is six times larger than that of the Titanic, school curriculums and educators neglect to teach us about it.

As sad as it may be, it’s a part of history, and it’s something we need to know. As George Santayana wisely stated, “Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

Technological 3D painting

By Lynden S.

Published September 25, 2018

3D painting is the future. We can make blueprints, paintings, and virtual designs. It’s all at our fingertips with the Dell Latitude. We have an app built in called paint 3D which lets us spray paint, paint, draw, and write.

This is huge because it lets us make our own paintings. They can be 3D or 2D. That canvas is just your imagination ready to explore. People in art classes can express the way they feel by making art. People in art can make blueprints for contraptions. Teachers can do it so they can show the class the whole 360 view of the topic they are working on. So go ahead express yourself on paint 3D.

Therefore, I know this app will help students and teachers alike. So the app is recommended for people who want to let their creativity fly.

The Xbox One Adaptive Controller

By Kyle K.

Published September 25, 2018

For as long as anyone can remember, people with little to no mobility in their hands could not play video games. That makes sense, you can’t move your fingers or click the rough buttons then you can’t really play a video game. But then Xbox came in and make it possible for disabled people to be able to have as much fun with a game as anyone with the standard mobility. But how does it work you ask? Well the base controller is two big buttons that some use with their feet or elbows but are big enough to just click with the whole hand. It also comes with some attachments like some more big buttons to plug in, an arcade stick with a big sphere to move your character, and so much more to make jacks of all trades able to play there Xbox. but let's talk about what this means for other consoles like PS4, Nintendo switch, and PC, let’s knock those out one by one.

First the PS4. The PS4 controller is very similar to the standard Xbox controller with only the analog stick being different. With some practice, a disabled person could use this controller effectively but it would take years of practice to play on a normal person’s level. This push for gamer equality by Xbox makes the PS4 look like a bunch of jerks who don’t care, hurting there spot at the top of the console wars. Now the Nintendo switch controller is hard to use for anyone with normal capabilities, let alone someone with less movement in their hands. Now looking at Nintendo’s track record with motion controls and always letting out new types of controllers, it kind of shocks me they haven’t done this yet. Now the PC. There isn’t one company who controls the PC. There's a few different companies who do this. Microsoft already is doing this for there PC because the Xbox One adaptive controller works on microsoft PC’s as well. All other PC’s haven’t even tried controllers, but no expects them too any way and no one whos adaptive could even try clicking those small keyboard buttons.

All in all, Microsoft did an amazing thing by making gaming a pastime for anyone and everyone and I gained a lot of respect for them and hope PS4 and Nintendo witch do something akin to this too as I feel this should be the standard in making video games.
