Below is information about school and county performance goals and how you can help your child reach them.
Goals
Quarterly Benchmark Assessment
Each quarter, students take a test that measures what they know about the topics they have learned that quarter. The county goal is for students to score at least 70% on this assessment.
Fact Assessment
Each quarter, students are given a timed test in which they have 3 minutes to solve 50 basic multiplication (up to the 10s) and 3 minutes to solve 50 division problems (also up to the 10s)
How to Help
Problem Solving
Problem solving is a foundational skill. While a classroom of students may solve the same problem in a variety of ways, they should all use good before, during, and after problem solving behaviors. This will help them to reach the Quarterly Benchmark Assessment goal. Watch the screencast and use the links below to learn more.
List of Problem Solving Strategies
Printable Operation Sorting Game
cut apart the problems and have students sort into categories depending upon which operation they should use to solve it.
Ten Marks
Ten Marks is an online program that gives students practice with Common Core-aligned math problems that match the rigor of those found on the PARCC assessment . The program tracks students' progress, gives them immediate feedback, and offers video support for skills with which they struggle. Students can also maintain skills through Ten Marks Jam Sessions.
