COUNSELING

The school counselor works with students in a variety of settings:  total class, small group, or individually, emphasizing areas such as personal and school growth, decision making, self-esteem, and positive interactions with others.  If you would like to speak with any of the school counselors, please contact Kathleen Klecan at kathleen.klecan@fcps.org, Michelle Getzandanner at Michelle.Getzandanner@fcps.org,  Samantha Slick at Samantha.Slick@fcps.org  or by calling the school. 

Our School Psychologist is a professionally trained psychologist who specializes in services for pre-school and school-aged children, adolescents, their teachers, and families.  They work with all school personnel to help make education a positive and rewarding experience for students and to assist them in achieving their potential as productive members of society.  Our school psychologist is Geri Pryor who can be contacted at Geri.Pryor@fcps.org. 

Parents may contact the front office to be put in contact with the correct supporting teacher and school personnel.

Character Counts

FCPS incorporates the Six Pillars of Character Counts into the daily operation and curriculum of its schools. The six Pillars of Character are as follows:  

•  Be Responsible

• Be Respectful

• Be Trustworthy

• Be Fair

• Be Caring

• Be a Good Citizen

BES supports the use of Character Counts and encourages students to show “good character” each and every day. We invite you to use the Six Pillars of Character within the home setting as well.

BES STRONG

We recognize student’s positive choices and behaviors during class and throughout the school day. When school expectations are followed, students are recognized for their efforts by receiving RAIL (respect, attitude, initiative and learning) passes. The RAIL passes are collected by class, and a random class winner is drawn each week and highlighted on the morning announcements. RAIL passes can also be collected and used at our School Store for grades 2-5. Students practice the exchange system and trade in single passes for larger denominations to purchase items at the School Store.
