Planning

Step 4: Develop criteria for the product/outcome

4.1 Specifications

    • In the first column of the "Specifications for Success" table in your Planning Document, identify at least four characteristics of a high quality product/outcome.

4.2 Supporting Research

    • In the second column, describe the research that justifies why each specification is a description of a high quality product/outcome. Your justification should cite at least one of your sources from your Research Document.

4.3 Evidence/Measurement

    • In the third column, identify how you will measure that this specification has been met. What evidence will you provide? User survey results? Expert opinion?

Step 5: Plan and record the development process of the project

5.1 Create a Plan:

    • Fill in the Long-Term plan table in your Planning Document. Be sure to keep in mind:
      • Project due dates
      • Meetings with your supervisor
      • Incremental steps to complete your project
      • Time management (Consider vacations, holidays, exam week, sport tournaments, etc.)

5.2 Document your progress:

    • Keep a clear record in your Process Journal of everything you do, especially any adjustment to the project’s timeline.
    • When changes to your long-term plan need to be made, be sure to clearly describe what you changed and justify why the change was necessary.
    • Remember this part of the grading criteria will be evaluated through the extracts from your Process Journal that you include in the project report appendix, so be sure to keep a complete and detailed journal of the entire process.

Step 6: Demonstrate self-management skills

Reflect on your self-management skills:

    • In your Process Journal justify your:
      • Strengths and limitations with time and task management
      • Affective skills such as mindfulness, perseverance, emotional management, self-motivation and resilience.
      • Use of other self-management skills such as
        • Reflection throughout the process like "identifying strengths and weaknesses of personal learning strategies," "considering ethical, cultural, and environmental implications" or "keeping a journal to record reflections."
        • Other organization skills such as "using appropriate strategies for organizing complex information" or "selecting and using technology effectively and productively."
    • Remember to record in your Process Journal specific examples of how you used time and task management, affective, and reflection skills as you go. You will need to give specific examples of these skills in your report.
