Revised: July 2006
It is the Company’s intent to protect employees and Guests from harm due to crime, to deter crimes against persons and property, and to prevent avoidable loss of assets. To achieve this goal, the Company requires employees to follow specific crime preventive procedures during opening hours.
Each employee on duty during opening is responsible for following the appropriate crime prevention procedures. Violations of procedures may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Restaurant and field management are additionally responsible for violations within the area of their supervision and are accountable by forfeiture of bonus dollars and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Upon arrival at the restaurant, the management person responsible for opening the restaurant is to drive around the building. Before getting out of his/her vehicle, the management person is to inspect all outside areas of the restaurant, including the exterior of outside freezer or storage facilities. The management person is to check for loiterers, suspiciously parked cars, and signs of forced entry, such as broken or pried-open windows or doors.
Whenever suspicious activities or conditions are observed, the manager is to leave the vicinity immediately and notify the police by phone. The employee should not leave his vehicle to investigate suspicious or unusual circumstances.
Before the restaurant opens for business, front and side doors of the building are to be kept locked, except to admit management, scheduled associates, recognized vendors or others known to have business with the restaurant, such as job applicants with appointments. Off-duty Associates, friends, family, and/or other unauthorized persons are strictly forbidden from entering and/or remaining in the restaurant prior to scheduled opening.
