It is the Company’s intent to protect Associates and Guests from harm due to crime, to deter crimes against persons and property, and to prevent avoidable loss of assets. To achieve this goal, the Company requires employees to follow specific crime preventive procedures during closing hours.
Each Associate on duty up to and through closing is responsible for following the appropriate crime prevention procedures. Violations of procedures may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Restaurant and field management are additionally responsible for violations within the area of their supervision and are accountable by forfeiture of bonus dollars and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Immediately after the dinner rush is over, all on-duty Associates are to move their vehicles to the front of the restaurant. After outside lighting is turned off, Associates should not walk across a darkened parking lot or in back of the restaurant to reach their vehicles.
At closing, all doors and hatches are to be properly locked and secured. Only the readerboard is to be turned off at this time. After the last Guest leaves, the management person on duty is to inspect all public areas, including the restrooms, to ensure that no unauthorized individuals remain in the restaurant.
The cash drawers are to be pulled for verification or deposit preparation only after all public areas are cleared of unauthorized persons and all doors and drive-thru windows are properly secured. The closing management person on duty must be accompanied by at least one other Associate at restaurant closing. Both employees must remain through closing procedures and depart the restaurant together. In no case may any employee be present in the restaurant alone after closing.
Upon leaving the restaurant, for safety reasons, the management person is to ensure that the security light circuit is on. The emptied (except for the $2.00 “bait bill”) register is to be left open overnight. Finally, before leaving the restaurant, employees are to check for any suspicious activities or conditions in the vicinity of the building. If suspicious circumstances are observed, employees are to remain in the building while the management person on duty contacts the police. Employees should not leave the restaurant to investigate suspicions or unusual activities.
Only on-duty managers and Associates may be present inside the restaurant after closing time. Off-duty Associates, friends, family, job applicants, and/or other unauthorized persons are strictly forbidden from entering and/or remaining in the restaurant after closing. Once they have departed for the night, employees may not return to the restaurant for any reason.
