Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior

March Newsletter

Spring in Kentucky brings a lot of great things to the Bluegrass Region. High school basketball tournaments, college basketball tournaments, warmer weather, flourishing nature, warmer weather, more daylight during the day and what is considered to be potentially the most important – the start of Spring Break! As a reminder for students and families is Friday March 18th is a flexible PD day for staff. Students will NOT have school on that day.

Please be on the lookout for important dates shared by your child’s team(s) for the wonderful things we have planned for March!

M. Hale, Head Principal

Black History Month

February was Black History Month. Here at Winburn Middle, we prepared many events for students geared to learning more about this event, the celebration of Black achievement, culture, and history.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, family engagement events are currently virtual. However, we want all of our students and our families to celebrate Black History with us. Instead, we created a website to serve as a hub for our school events, and for students to explore many icons and events related to Black History Month. We invite our families to check it out and discuss with their students. There will be drawings and contests for students who participate in our Black History Month events which will be announced shortly.

Bus Routes

Bus cancelations can be a pain. In an effort to keep parents informed, the Fayette County School District has put out a document that shows when bus routes will be canceled.

Please note, if a bus route is canceled, it is canceled for that morning only. If an afternoon bus is delayed, transportation will be available at 4:45pm or after other routes are completed and drivers are available. Families can choose to find a different way home for their children if they prefer.

School administrators stay with students in the afternoon when their bus is delayed.
