Students in the Yates Green Team go well beyond the usual science curriculum to learn about conventional and alternative energy sources, energy conservation, natural resources, recycling, composting, and other “green” topics. They then use what they know to complete projects designed to make our school a more sustainable place to work and learn. Green Team members collect and analyze data on school energy consumption and resource use, and then use this data to inform their chosen project. This year, Green Team and STLP are partnering on a project to raise public awareness of sustainability issues by producing short videos. Look for these videos soon elsewhere on the Yates website.
