Registration for 2018 STLP State Live Events ends on February 24, 2018.
Event
- Teams need to check in by the assigned time (to be determined after state competition details are known).
- This is a double elimination tournament. When starting, teams will go head to head against each other, completing a round. The winners will move to Winner's Bracket and the losers will go to Loser’s Bracket.
- Both the Winners's Bracket and the Loser's Bracket will go head-to-head to determine a winner for each bracket.
- The final will be between the winners of both brackets.
Round
- Each round will be limited to three minutes or three bouts, whichever comes first.
- The winner of a round is the robot that has won the best of three bouts, with each bout lasting no more than one minute.
- If during a bout the robots are entangled and wear and tear is occurring, both contestants can agree to a restart of that bout. The robots may be restarted, but the three minute overall time limit still applies (in other words, once three minutes are up the result of the round is determined by the results of the completed bouts, even if three bouts were not achieved during that time).
Bout
- One team member will place his/her robot in center of the ring side by side with the other robot. At the start of a bout the robots must be programmed to wait 5 seconds before any motion is made. After 5 seconds the robots must move away from each other.
- The first motion of the robot must be a AWAY from the other robot.
- EXCEPTION TO STARTING POSITION: If the Robots become entangled 2 consecutive times with no scoring, they may be restarted from an alternate starting position at the judge’s discretion.
