In our world language classes, students start on day one learning to communicate in either French, German, or Spanish. At the end of two years, students should be able to hold limited conversations. If they go all the way through the end of our program (AP), students should be able not only to survive but to thrive in a foreign country. Students become proficient in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, but a world language is so much more than learning a language. Our classes open the door to global cultures and differing perspectives. Our classes touch on a variety of topics such as health, sports, leisure activities, celebrations, foods, art, etc. Our classes are really a catch-all of information. Besides the wealth of learning, having a world language is 21st century marketable skill that will ensure job opportunities in the future.
Testing for the Seal of Biliteracy will take place on March 18th in our library. Those who score intermediate mid in reading, writing, speaking, and listening as well as have demonstrated proficiency in English will earn the Seal of Biliteracy: a mention on their transcript, a stamp on their diploma, and a cord to wear at graduation. They could also potentially get college placement and/or credit. Please cheer on our testers.
