Can I set up my own placement?
Absolutely! I will help you and your employer to work through the site approval process.
Can I work at McDonalds or Walmart?
The initial answer is NO. However, if you are a Blue and Gold intern, meaning you report to your internship site 5 days a week, you can have a secondary placement that is "non ag".
For example, you work at a vet clinic on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You could report to your job at Subway on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Can I be fired?
YES.
Students have been asked by the site supervisor to not return for various reasons. Most of these reasons include: using their cell phones and being late or not showing up when scheduled.
Students have been removed from their placements for allowing us to think they were at work when they were not.
What happens if I am fired?
If a student is fired, they will report to Mrs. Jones on the LTAC campus where they will be assigned a number of online learning modules that will reiterate the importance of practicing good employability skills. Once the assigned modules are done, the student may be placed into an internship experience on campus that will not be a paid student position.
What if I don't have transportation?
For the first time, LTAC will host student interns on our campus in PAID positions.
Each Institute of Study at LTAC will hire a paid student intern that will work on campus. So students will report from and back to their sending school via school bus.
