Ph.D. Candidate

About Me

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in finance at Florida Atlantic University, and I expect to complete my degree in May 2024. I am highly interested in researching and teaching courses in financial institutions and corporate finance.

My current research interests include a variety of topics regarding financial intermediaries such as reward crowdfunding, small business lending, and mortgage lending. I am also interested in exploring corporate finance and fintech topics. I would also like to be a frontrunner on research in the upcoming field of name, image, and likeness deals for college athletes.

My dissertation explores how local social capital, measured as the level of community involvement and social activity in a region, affects outcomes for entrepreneurs and their financial backers. In my first essay, I look at backer comments on successful reward crowdfunding campaigns following the fundraising period and determine whether their sentiment is influenced by the local social capital of the region where the campaign is hosted. In my second essay, I determine whether local social capital is incorporated in the small business loan decisions of relationship lenders.

During my time in the graduate program at FAU, I have taught courses in corporate finance and financial institutions. I have experience teaching courses primarily in-classroom, live with remote option, and fully online.
