KEIZANNE GUIEB
President
Hi everyone! My name is Keizanne and I love to ride rollercoasters and travel.
I joined HOSA to build my academic and practical skills. Through HOSA, I want to expand my social network and develop friendships with future health care professionals across the world.
I had a great time during competition at this year's Virtual International Leadership Conference! There were many activities for everyone. I attended educational seminars and a dance party. HOSA was definitely eventful and fun!
JAYDEN-JOSEPH ACOBA
Vice President
Hi everyone! My name is Jayden Acoba. I really enjoy studying languages, and a goal of mine is to become fluent with my Spanish by the end of 2021.
I joined HOSA to familiarize myself with the healthcare industry and the various careers that compose it. Through HOSA, I am able to learn and practice knowledge necessary for me to be the best healthcare professional I can be.
I attended the Hawaii HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC), competing in the Dental Terminology category where I placed 2nd and 4th during my sophomore and junior year. It was definitely a fun experience! Not only is SLC a competition, it is also an opportunity for you to socialize with others who are just as passionate about healthcare as you are.
JENNY ANDRADA
Secretary
Hi! My name is Jenny Andrada and I am the current secretary for Farrington HOSA 2021-2022. I've been in HOSA for a year and competed for Behavioral Health. I've decided to join HOSA to explore my interest in the healthcare field and meet new people with the same interest. I am looking forward to having a successful year with my team members!"
JANICA QUILLOPO
Treasurer
Hello! My name is Janica Quillopo. Something about myself is that I enjoy reading and writing. I've been told that I give good advice, so I've considered going into counseling as a career pathway. I joined HOSA because it was a way to become involved with the Health Academy and I appreciated the community service opportunity I gained from it. Although I haven't competed like some of my peers have, I would say that competing is a good experience to take away from being in HOSA.
Obrein Antonio
HOSA State Officer -Treasurer
Hi! I'm Obrein Antonio, I'm am a rising junior and my career interest is nursing. I joined HOSA to advance my knowledge about the healthcare field and how I can be successful in a rigorous and challenging environment.
I competed in sports medicine my freshmen year and behavioral health my sophomore year. My biggest advice for competition is to start preparing/ studying early because cramming all the materials in the end will NOT work. The day of competition for the State Leadership Conference (SLC) is always most memorable for me in HOSA. I remember my first experience in SLC, I was an intimidated freshman and was lost most of the time, but luckily I had great teachers to help me along the way. I became a Hawaii HOSA State Officer because I hope to meet the expectations and to carry on the legacy of the great teachers I looked up to and worked with these past few years.
Franklin Gutierrez
HOSA State Officer - Historian
Hi My name is Franklin and I have been with HOSA for 4 years. I have competed in Medical Terminology and a few other competitions.
I encourage students to be open to new opportunities because you never know what is out there.
I hope to gain lasting connections and relationships from this wonderful organization to help me become a future health professional.
Hawaii HOSA SLC Officers 2020-21
This year's conference was held at Orlando, Florida where 221 Hawaii students competed to become international superstars. Three of our students Keizanne Guieb, Franklin Gutierrez, and Obrein Antonio (left to right) participated at this exciting event where they got to connect with HOSA members across the nation and around the world like China, Korea and American Samoa.
This interactive table was one of the virtual exhibitions at the HOSA International Conference (ILC). This table simulates a cadaver where students are able to look inside the body and even reanimate it.
This picture was part of a short video presented at the HOSA ILC that introduced participants to a variety of careers in the health field. The simulation center was another interactive opportunity for students to engage, practice and compete against others on their knowledge about health and the human body.
