The information in this section is relevant for the parents of students who are considering their options for study post age 16.
We actively encourage that students keep all of their options open to them and to spend time researching where they may like to continue their studies post school and to narrow down the kinds of future careers or industries that they may be interested in.
We would recommend that students make applications to multiple colleges or schools in order to have choices - you can accept offers from multiple establishments. No firm decisions need to be made ahead of the GCSE results when the picture will be clearer.
In terms of entry requirements for Farnborough, all students will need to have achieved at least five grade 4s at GCSE. You can read more about our entry requirements on the College's main website in the courses section.
Open Days are a great way to discover more about Farnborough, meet the students and staff and see our amazing facilities. Specific dates and more information about these events including how to book your ticket will be advertised on the Home Page of the College's main website
Applications to join us here at Farnborough are made online and the relevant application dates will be shared with you at the Open events.
It is important that you carefully read the Admissions Policy and take note of the deadlines for 'on time' applications. The policy also includes information about how we manage the allocation of places should the College be oversubscribed.
You can read the policy and more information on the Admissions Page on the main website.
All applicants will be informed whether they can be offered an interview via an email sent from the online application system. For most applicants interviews will be held between November 2025 and March 2026.
Students in Year 11 who have applied and been offered a place at College are invited to come in for a 'taster day' known as Getting Ready Days. Invitation are sent out during the Easter holiday and the events take place around the end of June/early July (dates change each year, so check our website for published dates). We have a dedicated Getting Ready website gettingready.farnborough.ac.uk which students joining us are encourgaged to visit as they will find the course prep work for the subjects they wish to study. This needs to be completed by their first lesson.
If your young person has any concerns or questions about which courses to take following their taster session, they can request a conversation at their enrolment to ensure they sign up for courses which will suit their future goals.
We hold a 'New Parents' event over multiple evenings in early July for the parents of students who have been offered a place at College in the following September. During the event, the College Principal and members of the Senior Leadership Team will explain to parents how some of the key aspects of College operate and how important it is that parents and the College work together to best support students to achieve their very best outcomes.
We also host additional optional sessions which parents may choose to attend covering:
Aiming high for all students;
Support available for those aspiring to prestigious/competitive destinations;
Learning support and how we help those with specific needs; (listen to a recording of the presentation)
Vocational courses and the changing curriculum landscape.
Check our main College website for published dates.
All of the information shared at the event will be made available by email to any parents who are unable to attend.

There are a number of considerations to bear in mind when your young person is selecting the courses that they would like to study at College. The choices they make for their level 3 study (A level and equivalent vocational courses) will have an impact on their next steps after College, so it's a good idea to think about and research the destination that they are aspiring to (especially if they are considering going on to higher education at elite or competitive destinations).

*Please bear in mind that our system is updated year to year and current guidance will be shared with all of those who have been offered places.*
See below our step by step guide which has been shared with your child:
STEP 1 - WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Before you start the online enrolment process, make sure that you have the following things to hand:
Your statement/evidence of results - this should be an official document that you have been given by your school or the exam board and must have your personal details on it. Please also include any results received in YR10, GCSE RE for example.
A passport style photo of yourself (which you can upload onto our system).
STEP 2 - LOG IN
Go to https://apply.farnborough.ac.uk/enrol and log in. You will log in using the email address and password you used for your online application form. If you cannot remember your password, please use the ‘Forgotten password?’ link to reset it.
STEP 3 - CHECK YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS AND SET PREFERENCES
You must double check that all your personal details are correct. If you need to make any changes, please do so and remember to save the page. A member of the pastoral team may need to contact you to discuss your subject choices and/or your exam results, so a correct contact number and email address is very important. You will also need to set various preferences and confirm that you have read and understood College policies.
STEP 4 - ENTER YOUR EXAM RESULTS
Your statement/evidence of exam results will be required for this step. Enter your UCI and ULN (if present) from your statement of results. You will then need to enter your qualifications, with the correct exam board, and the grade that you achieved. You will also need to upload a copy of your statement of results/evidence of your qualifications as proof of your results. Please ensure that you upload the entire document and that all the information on it is readable. You must also ensure that your personal details are visible on the uploaded copy so we can verify that they are your results. If you are studying A level Music please also enter and upload evidence of any graded Music exams (Grade 5 and above) you have taken to this page.
STEP 5 - UPLOAD YOUR STUDENT PHOTO
Upload a passport style photo of yourself, following the on-screen guidance. This photo will appear on your student ID card.
STEP 6 - CONFIRM YOUR ENRICHMENT CHOICES
We encourage you to sign up for an enrichment activity to support and enhance your academic programme. The enrichment you select will form part of your overall programme of study.
Please note that if you trialed for sports enrichment in July 2025, these will not appear on the enrichment page and will instead appear on your confirmation of choices (Step 7).
If you are studying A level Music, you must select at least one ensemble as detailed on the enrichment page.
If you have previously expressed an interest in DofE then please read this Introduction to the Duke of Edinburgh Award carefully so you know what will be involved and how to register at enrolment.
STEP 7 - CONFIRM YOUR SUBJECT CHOICES
This is where you can either confirm the subject choices you made at the application/interview stage, or let us know that you want to change one or more of your courses. You will also see your enrichment choices. If you are still unsure about what subjects you would like to take, go to the ‘Courses’ section on the College website here for detailed information on the subjects that we offer.
STEP 8 - STAFF CHECK
When you have completed the above steps, your exam results and ID photo will need to be checked and verified by a member of College staff.
Please ensure you are regularly checking your email as we will contact you if there are any issues with the information you have provided
STEP 9 - ENROLMENT TEAM CHECK
A member of the enrolment team will then review and confirm the subjects you have chosen to study at Farnborough. If there are any questions or concerns about your enrolment, someone will contact you to discuss this. Please note that this step may take a few days for the enrolment team to complete.
Please ensure that you are available to take a call from Thursday 21 August 2025 and are regularly checking your emails in case we have been in touch.
STEP 10 - YOU ARE OFFICIALLY ENROLLED AT THE SIXTH FORM COLLEGE FARNBOROUGH!
Once your exam results, ID photo and subject choices have been checked and confirmed, you will receive an email prompting you to log back into the system to complete a confirmation of your enrolment at the College.
Once you have completed the confirmation, you will see your College Google account login details and information on how to use them on screen. Don’t worry if you have any issues with logging in to your new account - you will be guided through the log in process during your Induction session.
If you have any questions regarding your enrolment, please contact the enrolment team.
THE FINAL STEP - YOUR STUDENT ID NUMBER
Your student ID number is {{StudentRef}}. This number is unique to you and helps to identify you on our College systems. You will also need this student ID number to purchase any student transport tickets so please make a note of this number.
Induction will take place in early September. Your allocated appointment will be sent by email once enrolment has completed. Please note that we will be unable to alter your induction appointment due to the number of students attending each session.
