Track & Field

Track picture day is May 8th.

THE TRACK MEET ON 4/17 HAS BEEN POSTPONED! PRACTICE WILL RESUME WEDNESDAY, 4/18.

General Info:

Track practice is held each day after school from 2:40 - 4:20 pm, with warm-ups starting promptly at 2:50 pm. Arrangements should be made to pick up your athlete promptly at 4:20 pm. Students CANNOT be left after school without supervision, so carpool or plan a ride home with another athlete, if necessary.

The deadline to join the team is Wednesday, April 18th.

Attendance:

Regular attendance at practices is expected. Athletes are expected to sign in at 2:40 each practice day. We realize that conflicts occasionally arise and we would like advance notice if your child will miss a practice. If a student is in school on a particular day, he/she will be expected to be at practice. If a student must miss practice that day a signed note explaining the student's absence must be turned in that day or the student will be marked unexcused. Unexcused absences may result in the student not being allowed to participate in the next meet. The dated note must be given to Mr. Burr prior to the end of the school day. You may also email coach Montgomery or Burr for the girls or coach Kowalewski for the boys to report an absence.

No cuts will be made and everyone will participate in the meets (the number of events is based on the size of the team) as long as they have attended practices and have tried their best. Frequent absences could be cause for removal from the team. At the meets the field events will begin as soon as the athletes are warmed up.

Uniforms and Attire:

Uniforms will be provided and athletes will be responsible for their care throughout the season. Uniforms are to be worn at MEETS ONLY. They should never be worn during the school day or to practice in. Athletes will be responsible for having proper practice gear each day. As the weather will be cool at the beginning of the season, athletes should also bring warm weather gear (hat, gloves, sweat shirt/pants, etc). A comfortable pair of running shoes is needed; track spikes are not necessary.

Gear needed for daily practice: shirt (no tank tops), shorts, sweat suit, socks, shoes and a water bottle. (Uniforms are needed only on meet days). We will be outside - again, bring a water bottle and outside gear daily.
