Last Week
The Diplomats went 2-0 with a 12-5 win against Messiah and a 13-5 victory versus Catholic. During the win against Messiah, the Diplomats went on a 5-0 run that spanned until early into the fourth quarter while handing the visiting Falcons (2-1) their first defeat of the season. Kai Kelly recorded another hat trick to pace the attack as nine different players scored for the Diplomats throughout the win. Colin Hueston finished with a team-best four points after tallying one goal and assisting on three others.
In the win last Saturday against Catholic, the Diplomats picked up their fourth win of the season when Sage Garito stopped nearly 69 percent of the shots he faced in the rainy conditions and came away with 11 saves en route to winning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. F&M finished the game with a 54-32 advantage in shots, with both Mason Montrella and Kai Kelly recording hat tricks on the attacking end. Montrella additionally dished out three assists for a team-high six points. Both Christian Sullivan and Colin Hueston tallied two goals and an assist during Saturday's game, while Jack Luviano, Liam Timmins, and Dillon Mannix also found the back of the cage.
Last Time vs. Kenyon
These two teams last met during the 2022 season. Franklin & Marshall found itself trailing for just the second time all year, but scored 11 of the final 14 goals to post an 11-6 win over Kenyon inside Shadek Stadium. The Diplomats went down 3-0 in the opening five-plus minutes, but more than answered that challenge over the final 55 minutes of game action.
Kai Kelly registered his second hat trick of the season with a three-goal outing. A.J. Rigsby was the team's top point producer with two goals and two assists, giving him four straight multi-goal outings. Will Mollihan added two more goals, while Sage Garito stopped 13 of the 19 shots on goal that he faced. Eleven different players scooped up multiple ground balls for the Diplomats, led by eight from Connor Helm as he went 12-for-21 at the face-off X. The Diplomats' defense caused 11 of the Lords' 19 turnovers on Wednesday as Kyle Craig forced a trio of giveaways. Drew Pascal also stepped up on the defensive end with two CTs.
Kenyon Preview
Kenyon started the year 5-0, but will be looking to bounce back from its first defeat of the season which came at the hands of Dickinson by a 13-8 score on Wednesday evening. The Owls are coming off of a record-breaking 2023 season which saw the team rack up a 15-3 record and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fifth time in school history. Kenyon was ranked as high as No. 19 in the country throughout last year's campaign. Rollins Heath, Thomas Nelson and Adam Hall were among Kenyon's honorable mention picks on Inside Lacrosse's 2024 Preseason All-America Team.
David Chintala is currently leading Kenyon with 24 goals this season. He is one of seven players on the Owls who has scored at least five goals on the season. On the defensive end of the field, Kenyon has caused just 30 turnovers in six games, with six from Joe Sikora leading the way. However, the Owls have not had to play defense very frequently as face-off man Thomas Nelson is winning over 70 percent of his restarts at the X. Adam Hall has seen the majority of the action in the goal for the Owls and is stopping 52.6% of the shots on goal that he has faced.
