World History

Course Description

World History is the study of how our modern world has been shaped by political empires, religions and revolutionary events. In this non-linear class, current events of global concern will be examined using significant historical movements as a backdrop. This course aims to convert an old cliché to an enduring understanding: Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. 

Topics may or may not include: The Enlightenment Thinkers and Ideas; Revolutions; Imperialism; The World Wars;  Independence Movements of the 20th Century

Supplemental Texts may or may not include: Candide - Voltaire, Animal Farm - Orwell
