Changing Your Contributions & Other FAQ
Once registered, you can make changes to your contributions or investment elections at any time by contacting Fidelity or logging into your NetBenefits account.
Make your investment elections by June 19th to ensure your account balance from USI will be invested in the funds you want when they come over from USI on June 22nd. You can still change these at any time after June 19th.
You are not required to pick investment funds - if you do not, then you will be placed in a default Fidelity fund based on your expected retirement date.
NOTE: If you made a deferral change in USI between May 20th and June 10th, Fidelity may still be processing that change. You may either wait or go ahead and update your new NetBenefits account.

Deciding How to Contribute
All employees can take advantage of the eXp 401k plan’s saving benefits.
Whether or not to contribute Pre-tax (Traditional) and/or After-tax (Roth) is based on your unique situation. You don’t have to choose just one contribution type.
Pre-tax contributions allow you to save on taxes now because they reduce your taxable income for the current year. Your contributions and earnings are taxed when you withdraw the money as a cash distribution.
Roth contributions are a post-tax deduction – meaning you pay your income taxes on contributions for the current year, and you are not taxed when you withdraw the money as a cash distribution. Earnings in the Roth source are not taxed if IRS rules are satisfied.
The 2020 IRS contribution limit is $19,500 (or $26,000 if age 50 or over). This is a total contribution limit for both Pre-tax and Roth.
If you’re age 50 or over by the end of the calendar year, tax law allows you to make “catch-up contributions” above the $19,500 limit, up to $6,500.
3% Pre-Tax Auto Enrollment
If you do not make an election or opt out of the plan within 30 days from your date of eligibility, you will be auto enrolled at a 3% pre-tax contribution.
Example: Arthur's first day is September 30th. He is eligible to participate in the 401k plan on October 1st (1st of the month following date of hire). If he does not make an election or opt out of the plan by October 31st, he will be auto-enrolled at 3%. To make an election or opt out, log in or call our 401k plan administrator (information below).
If you are an existing staff member moving to Fidelity and already opted out while the plan was with USI, you will NOT have to opt out again.
