June 27 - July 17 OK to book flights once your name is listed!
Students will need to transit through Lima or Bogotá. Please allow a minimum of 3 hours to transit through Lima as it involves collecting bags and clearing customs and immigration before rechecking to the next flight.
We highly recommend transiting through Lima over Bogotá. Transiting through Lima tends to offer a smoother transfer process. Opting for the immigration process in Cusco rather than in Lima can result in long wait times, particularly for the flights coming from Bogotá.
For your flights between Lima and Cusco, we recommend choosing LATAM Airlines over JetSmart. LATAM offers more flights, giving you more flexibility in the event of cancellations or delays. Also, LATAM provides better customer service and assistance if you have any issues with your flight.
**** Emergency GLA Airport Support (see below) will be on standby at the Lima Airport to assist with any emergencies.

Book on your own
GLA recommends families avoid booking connecting flights on separate tickets and to avoid flights on Spirit or Frontier Airlines.
When booking directly with the airline, they may require passengers to present the credit card used to book the flight at check-in.
Unaccompanied Minor Program: Typically, this program is required by airlines for travelers 14 years & younger when traveling alone (each airline is different).
Please contact us if you’ve purchased the optional Unaccompanied Minor service for your student and require a point of contact for arrival/departure.
For each program, we suggest a flight route that is the most direct, with the fewest number of stops, and always leaving from a US gateway airport. Check the suggested routes on the Flight Portal.
A Parental Authorization Form is required for minors traveling with LATAM Airlines and for all Global Leadership Adventures (GLA) students under 18. This form also serves as an important document in the event of an emergency during your student’s trip. Please ensure it is completed and notarized before departure.
During student arrival and departure windows, GLA will have Emergency Airport Support staff stationed at the Lima (LIM) airport to assist with travel-related issues such as:
Flight delays or cancellations
Lost or delayed baggage
Navigating between international and domestic flights
While the support staff will not directly supervise students, she is available on standby to provide assistance as needed.
Flor is not an airport official and does not have access to restricted areas (such as baggage claim or secured zones beyond security checkpoints). However, she can:
Meet students after they exit international baggage claim
Guide them through the airport to their next check-in area or gate
Assist with airline check-ins and communicate with airline staff about flight status or baggage issues
Advocate on behalf of students in the event of flight delays, cancellations, or baggage problems
Flor can remain with a student in public areas of the airport (before security) during long layovers if needed. Please note, however:
She may need to assist multiple students during busy travel windows, so continuous supervision cannot be guaranteed.
She cannot leave the airport or accompany students to hotels or accommodations, even at the airport hotel, if doing so would prevent her from supporting other students.
One GLA representative, vetted and specifically trained by GLA
Friendly and experienced travel professionals familiar with airport logistics and student travel
Stationed at Lima Airport and available by request to help students during their flight transitions
