2023 - 2025, I led on a project to design and deliver Digital Collections Training Materials for Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museum (GLAM) organisations, as part of the Towards a National Collection (TaNC) Programme, a major five-year £18.9 million investment in the UK’s world-renowned museums, archives, libraries and galleries. Funding is provided through UK Research and Innovation’s Strategic Priorities Fund and delivered by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
It was a highly collaborative project, in which I engaged and hired a series of subcontractors and domain experts from across various Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums organisations to support with the development and production of training resources for the course.
Whilst involved on this project I feel the key achievements we delivered and core strengths I brought to this initiative could be described as follows:
Sector based research and analysis to assess training needs and requirements for GLAM Professionals, via desk based research, surveys and 1-2-1 interviews.
Development of a structure and plan to design, build, seek feedback, iterate and launch the training course. The training course; Towards Digital Collections; Resources for Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums was formally launched in November 2024.
Liaison with and management of 10 sub contractors and content creators, to ensure briefs were developed and training materials were delivered to an appropriate standard in time for launch. Overall 64 individual training steps were developed for 7 specific modules
Planning and delivery of 4 in-person and 1 online sessions across the UK to introduce the new training resources and promote them.
Drafting a final report of observations on the sectors training needs and producing a number of recommendations based on these.
