Welcome to the first week of long course training. While most of our time will still be spent training in a 25 yard course, we are now officially turning our focus to the long course season. This is a short season, so every meet is a big one!

Announcements
Our first week of our Brentwood dryland programs has been a huge success! Our Junior programs have been working with Coaches Bink and Jordan on core strength while our Varsity and Senior swimmers have been working under the supervision of professional trainers both at D1 sports and at the ISC. Gallatin, Longview and Murfreesboro, watch for upcoming dryland announcements coming soon!
We are very pleased to announce a partnership with Franktown Open Hearts which an organization that provides opportunities to families in need of support. Excel staff and athletes will be donating swim lessons to children (18 and under) each Saturday at the Franklin Rec Center. We had our first batch this last weekend are looking forward to expanding very soon. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for volunteer hours. We will be offering sponsorship opportunities as well and more details on that coming soon! Have any questions? Feel free to contact Shannon Oliver at shannonexcelswim@gmail.com
The 2022 Death Valley Open water race will be on Saturday, June 4th in Clemson SC. Like last year, we will also tag on a white water rafting trip in Ocoee, TN on Friday. This a great opportunity to experience in a unique format that we often don't see during the course of our season.
During the 2021-22 Short Course Season at Brentwood, we had 22 athletes participate in a pilot program that saw them mentoring our youngest athletes. At the beginning of the season, each 8 and under swimmer that joined the team was paired with one of our Junior, Varsity, or Senior swimmers for the season. The veteran swimmers provided notes of encouragement and exchanged gifts before meets and at the holidays. The parents of these swimmers also were available to answer questions from those parents new to the Excel family and the sport of swimming. When asked about the program, Coach Daun said, "The 8 and under kids loved having a mentor, and would get so excited to look in their folder to see if there was a note or small gift in there for them." Thanks to all the swimmers and families who participated and we look forward to another season of fun mentoring and fast swimming! A big thanks to Mindy Domitrovich for helping to coordinate the program and communicate with all the mentors and mentees. Those swimmers who mentored this season are as follows: Abigail Kauppila, Audrey Kauppila, Alex White, Amelia White, Annabella White, Anna Lasher, Austin Norwood, Avery Domitrovich, Callum Farneth, Caroline Netolicky, Clare Reardon, Jacob Hession, Josh Hession, Kamalai Schwab, Kayla Lasher, Kingston Dealy (with a lot of help from his younger sister, Caroline Dealy), Lauren Brindle, Nicole Caruso, Sami Ibrahim, Sarah Carrico, and Zaki Ibrahim.
If you and your swimmer are interested in being involved with this program next season, please get in touch with Coach Daun at coachdaun@excelaquatics.org. If you are at one of our satellite sites and would perhaps like to coordinate this program at your site next season, you should also get in touch with Coach Daun.
Remember that our awards ceremony is this Sunday (April 3rd) at 4:00pm at the Clearview Baptist Church (537 Franklin Rd). This will be a fun way to celebrate the incredible season that we have all had.
