Announcements
In addition to the D1 strength training that we have been using these last few weeks, many of our swimmers have been training with Amy Richardson at the Brentwood ISC. She has been working with groups from both our Varsity and Senior teams. Amy is working off of our season plans for all our groups and has tailored her approach to meet differing needs of our swimmers. Her closely supervised workouts have been paying instant dividends to our athletes and have even helped place two of her own swimmers on our National Team! She along with other partnered personal trainers, have been a critical component to our recent success, especially in the older age groups. Space in her groups is limited so for more information, please email arichardson-training@hotmail.com
Amy Richardson is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College for Sports Medicine. She has her Strength and Drylands Certification through Surge Strength Academy and has been teaching both groups and individuals a wide range of workouts including yoga, pilates, TRX, plyometrics and many others.
We are very pleased to announce a partnership with Franktown Open Hearts which is an organization that provides opportunities to families in need of support. Since the end of March, Excel staff and athletes have been donating swim lessons to children (18 and under) each Saturday at the Franklin Rec Center. It has been very exciting for us to see how eager these young swimmers are to learn how to swim and be safe in the water. Statistics show that minority children ages 5-19 are more than 5 times more likely to drown in swimming pools than other children in the same age group. With Excel's collective knowledge and expertise in this area, we are uniquely positioned to dedicate our time and effort to educating these kids.
The lessons will run through the end of May from 11am-12pm each Saturday, and this is a great opportunity for anyone looking for volunteer hours. We will be offering sponsorship opportunities as well and more details on that coming soon! Have any questions? Feel free to contact Shannon Oliver at shannonexcelswim@gmail.com
The 2022 Death Valley Open water race will be on Saturday, June 4th in Clemson SC. This is a rare opportunity to race open water in preparation to sending athletes to Open Water Nationals in 2023. Like last year, we will also tag on a white water rafting trip in Ocoee, TN on Friday.
Note- The Southeastern LSC has decided to not send a team to Open Water Zones so this opportunity becomes even more important.
Last Sunday night, we were able to gather for a full team ceremony the celebrated our 2021-22 Short Course season. It was an evening filled with awards, speeches and even some happy tears. Having swimmers, families and coaches, from all age-groups, from all sites, was what truly made the night special.
A huge "Thank You!!" goes out to:
Our parent volunteers who work so hard to make meets, events, awards, apparel, transportation and even food happen so that we can have seasons like this last one.
The coaching staff for their work in organizing, training, travel, long hours and much more that make fast swimming come to life.
Clearview Baptist Church for hosting our event and providing that amazing atmosphere.
Our swimmers! You all are the ones putting in the hardest work every day. It's because of you that we have grown and succeeded like we have. You deserve to be celebrated so congrats for all that you have done!
