Behavior Expectations: In addition to the 4 school rules of Excel, our classroom policy is pretty simple: Be Positive, Be Polite, and Be Productive.
Friday Folders: Thank you for reading the information presented in your child’s Friday Folder. Please review the folder content each week and return the empty folder each Monday.
Homework: Please check your child’s backpack and Friday Folder for homework. You can also check our class google calendar or your students planner to see homework assignments. Daily homework for all children includes reading as well as spelling and vocabulary practice. Math homework will be given Monday - Thursday except on test days. Homework is given to help students practice lessons as well as to strengthen the home-school connection. For this reason, it is imperative that parents review homework with their children on a daily basis. **If you are unable to complete the homework for the day that it is due, students can bring it in and show me for credit when they have it completed. It is their responsibility for them to show me when they finish it.**
Scholastic Book Orders: With Scholastic, parents will have the opportunity to order from a variety of Scholastic Book Clubs throughout the year. Teachers receive points for free items for the classroom with each order parents place. Orders can be placed online or with order forms returned to school with payment. Watch for the order forms in your child’s Friday Folder.
Snack: We have snack time every morning. Please send healthy snacks that your child can eat quickly, as snack time is only 10 minutes. Juice, milk, soda and other colored drinks are not allowed in the classroom as they stain the carpet. Children are not allowed to share snacks. Please refer to the Parent Student Handbook for the school’s recommended snack list.
Specials: Your child will have Music, Art, P.E., Library/Technology and Spanish on a five-day rotation. Students need appropriate gym shoes and water bottles each day they have P.E. Please check my homepage for our specials schedule. You can also find the specials schedule on the specials teachers' webpages.
Volunteers: I love having volunteers help in the classroom. Having volunteers during our morning literacy block is especially helpful!
Water Bottles: Remind your child to take his/her water bottle home each Friday to clean.
