Welcome to GT at Excel Academy!

At Excel Academy, we're pleased to offer weekly enrichment to students in grades 3-8. Students who are GT learn about a variety of topics in these sessions that include self and social skills, cognitive exercises, and STEAM activities. Students who are advanced in reading and/or math may also receive additional time and support from GT teachers.

Greetings!


This week students worked in collaborative teams to create a rubric for effort. They explored the meaning of effort, developed criteria for the rubric, privately rated themselves, and some of them even presented their rubrics to their classmates! This activity led to rich and critical discussions around the type of observable evidence that represents effort. We discussed the importance of having a growth mindset when it comes to our effort, and to work to achieve our "personal best" effort each day.

Camp DI in Colorado
In June 2022, Destination Imagination Colorado is hosting a LIVE summer camp. Get your kids back into the swing of things with this safe, challenging and unique camp. June 20 -June 24. Incoming 3rd-5th graders are from 9:00 – 12:00, Incoming 6th-8th graders are from 9:00-12:00. More info here.

DISCOVER TECH - Registration Open, For 3rd - 6th Grade Girls
This program meets four times per semester on the Colorado School of Mines campus. It introduces girls to a variety of STEM subjects through fun, hands-on activities that change each semester so you’ll learn something different each time. For Spring 2022, we’ll be offering both in-person and virtual sessions. More information here. (NOTE: We will be adhering to state guidelines and School of Mines guidelines regarding safety and the coronavirus.)
