These Conjet hydrodemolition robots make demolition of concrete and buildings easy, and can smoothly cut concrete with water. “Hydrodemolition is a concrete removal technology that uses high-pressure water to remove damaged concrete, as well as asphalt and grout.” (Conjet - Concrete removal & hydrodemolition robots)
These robots are powered by a pump that delivers water to them. The robot’s operator chooses the working parameters on the handled controlling device. These working parameters include: the cradle speed, lance turning speed, step speed, tool rotation speed, cut width, and turn speed. After this, the operator starts the process on the handheld device, and monitors the robot’s progress from a safe distance. The robot uses an extremely high pressure water jet to cut through the concrete - when the water reaches the concrete, the machine can cut it apart easily. To cut through the concrete, this machine uses high-pressure water up to 22,000 psi (1500 bar) to selectively remove concrete at a predetermined quality level. In comparison to an average at-home pressure washer, used to clean driveways. According to an article the Lowes website, which states that ”you should use a pressure washer with at least 1500 PSI to clean concrete and asphalt.” (Graham)
The Conjet hydrodemolition machine is much better than what was done before. It creates a much easier and efficient method of concrete demolition with no harm done to surrounding materials (such as support placed for the original concrete.) This is different to normal drilling machines which often times cause cracks to the remaining structure. The machine ensures a precise, consistent cut. Another thing to note is that physical stress for people using normal handheld drilling machines is common, which does not occur with the Conjet version. The robot also: reduces costs, improves productivity, and also safter.
